A Dece Day for Ice Fitchin Guy

As you can see, this is an awesome spot to slay walters.  Lac du Flambeau, WI.

Shakesmeesh

Dear reader, it is time to slay thy bounty.  I’m speaking of thy bounty.  Well, technically it’s not my bounty, well…not yet anyway.   I’ve never wanted to put all my thoughts together and really crush walleyes first ice the way I do now, and I think it’s because I’m tired of staring into the woods.  I still need to shoot a big buck this year though, and in fact, I am sitting a new set in the morning which would have had shots at four separate bucks that cruised through sometime Sunday and Monday.  I was planning on sitting it this morning (Tuesday), but the ice bath I took on Saturday ruined my phone, even though it’s waterproof up to seven leagues, and this old one I have’s alarm malfunctioned and I woke up too late to sneak in and sit because I had to count cash at 0900 and do tree work around 1200.  But back to harvesting thy bounty of thy walleye.  Many lakes need to get crushed.  That is simply the fact of the moment.  “Why art thou not taking advantage of awesome spots I know will produce huge walters to feed my craving for huge walters, guy?”

Let's Cut Trees y'all

Tough to mess up tree work with a trough of tethered whiskers.

First Ice

A couple morning's in the single digits has produced the first walkable ice on the smaller to medium sized lakes.  Perhaps I was a little too amped because I took a nice polar plunge later in the day.  Managed four walleyes around dark but was extremely limited to a few patches of good ice.  Lac du Flambeau, WI.

Pre-Elm Removal

Removed a majestic elm tree that had acquired dutch elm disease with complete efficiency.  Video to come.
